My dreams for criticism over the next year...
As a theatre journalist, I want to capture into writing the amazing intersectional work generations of past and present BIPOC theatre artists have and are making to radically reshape and reimagine the American Theatre to be more inclusive and community driven. In the current criticism of work of BIPOC artists' works, I often find missing is the acknowledgement and contextual information of the historical, cultural, and political impact of early BIPOC artists in the American Theatre. I hope that as a critic, I help reframe the way we see contemporary BIPOC work in conversation with the work of BIPOC elders, as well as future generations.
